About the Market: Donations: Pigs on Parade: Mailing:
What are the Market's hours? Where is it located? How do I find a specific Market product / merchant / craftsperson?
The Market is open daily from roughly 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. except for New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day and is home to nearly 300 commercial tenants, 200 craftspeople, 100 farmers and 200 street performers. For specific information about any of those, please visit the Market's main website: www.pikeplacemarket.org or call its main number: (206) 682-7453.
Does the City of Seattle own the Market?
Though Pike Place Market is a public market, it is owned by the Pike Place Market Preservation & Development Authority (PDA) which does not receive any city or state funding to operate the Market. Revenues come from the Market's tenants through rent, utilities, and other property management activities. The PDA is a nonprofit, public corporation chartered by the City of Seattle in 1973 to manage 80% of the properties in the nine-acre Market Historical District. Its mission is to preserve, rehabilitate and protect the Market's buildings; increase opportunities for farm and food retailing in the Market; incubate and support small and marginal businesses; and provide services for low-income people, including supporting the Market Foundation.
What is the Foundation's role in the Market?
The Market Foundation was established in 1982 to support services for low-income people, including the Pike Market Medical Clinic, Pike Market Senior Center, Pike Market Child Care & Preschool, and the Downtown Food Bank. The Foundation also supports the Market's heritage programs, public improvements and repairs to the Market's historic buildings, development of new low-income housing in the Market, and programs that assist the Market's farmers.

In-kind donations – what items are needed?
More than 400 low-income people live in the Market's four-block historic district and nearly 10,000 people rely on the Market's four human service agencies. Like the diversity of people, there are a variety of needs – everything from kitchen utensils and clothing to TVs and furniture. Current Wish List. Please email Rainelle Sizemore or call her on: (206) 774-5262 for more information.

Donations of expertise are also needed – from tax assistance and dance instruction for seniors to contributions of graphic design and photographic skills. Please email Joice Barnard with questions about service donations.
How do I find my tile? Can I order a new tile?
If you bought one of the 45,000 name tiles installed in 1986, your tile can be located either by its inscription or by the purchaser's name. If you know either of those pieces of information, you can either: 1) visit the Market's Information Booth at 1st & Pike; or 2) call the Market's main reception desk (206) 682-7453) to find your tile's location. Unfortunately, tiles are no longer available for purchase.
Can I still get my name on a bronze hoofprint?
Yes! Donors interested in contributing to the Market Foundation's capital fund have the option of having their names inscribed on one of the limited number of available bronze pig hoofprints. Hoofprints are installed near Rachel, the bronze piggy bank, and recognize donors who gave $1,000 or more. The capital fund is used for physical improvements and equipment purchases at the Market's human service agencies as needed. Please email Rainelle Sizemore or call her on: (206) 774-5262 for more information.
How did we do Pigs on Parade? When will you do Pigs on Parade again? Can I still buy a pig?
The Market Foundation has produced Pigs on Parade twice. The first time was in 2001 and featured 170 artist-adorned fiberglass replicas of Rachel. Originally, the purpose was to provide an engaging venue to tell the story of Rachel and her job as the Market's piggy bank. We thought that would be the one-and-only Pigs on Parade. However, 2007 turned out to be an auspicious year – it was both the Market's Centennial and the Chinese Year of the Pig – so we succumbed once again to the charm of pigs. In 2007, 100 pigs were decorated by local artists. We have no plans for future endeavors or pig-outs. However, we have licensed other cities to use our pigs and we have sold unadorned pigs ("naked pigs") in the past. Email Marlys Erickson with your questions or call her on: (206) 774-5246.
How do I get my name added / removed or my address changed on your mailing or email list?
